Sorry for your loss. I am a current police officer. I never knew your ex-wife, but saw her picture and wondered what such a cheery, young face was doing on an obituary page. Discovering the circumstances was disconcerting to say the least. So I wish you all the best, and again, I am sorry for your loss.

You have a lovely heart Jason Mackenzie. I am proud of how you loved Cindy. At night, you can sleep in peace because you loved when others would have given up long ago. I told a friend who has 2 children who are bi-polar how you looked at it - "if you had cancer I would not give up on you Cindy, why would I give up on you if you were bi-polar? It's a disease." She said that was very beautiful, and very rare in a partner.

I pray for you and the girls often. Great to see you the other week - tell us when you can come again and we will arrange a bit of a gathering.

Love to all of you,
Kim

Dear Jason,
Having been a close friend of your Mom and Dad, and knowing that you actually "babysat" my son Michael years ago, I feel like you are like a family member even though we do not see one another.
Your Mom has shared wonderful memories and photos of Cindy, yourself, those darling girls, and even the kitty.
Please know that I grieve with you, and think about you very very often.
I am so sorry for your true loss, not only Cindy's life of course, but the love that you had for her through thick and thin. She was a very beautiful lady, and I felt like I knew her just by speaking on the phone on an occasion with her, and most of all from her photo. Cindy was so very, very pretty. I am sure she was just as much so, on the inside. Mental illness can do so many things that are just uncontrollable, and yet there are so many therapies, but the intricacy of it all is so hard to comprehend in the case of bipolar disorder. I too suffer from a form of mental illness, and it really is what a physician once said to me, that "if you can hurt or be ill physically, you can mentally as well". Very difficult, for everyone. I just want you to know Jason that I have an idea of difficult times for sufferers of mental illness. Equally, I understand the depth of how it can affect family members.
You have been through so much Jason, and you will be strong and you will have times where you just don't know. Grief. You also have celebration of a beautiful individual's life in Cindy, and she and yourself, in your darling girls. I am so glad you have her daughters, and your daughters, making your memories of a lovely family so much for you to live by and endure the future.
You will make it Jason. I am so honoured to be able to read your blog, especially the first posting. God Bless you, and thank you for sharing.
I look forward to reading whenever you have been able to post, through the wonderful times and the difficult; especially the present. Sharing your love of your girls and everyone around you.
Please take care.
With love & hugs,
Di Austin

Jason
I am very much in favour of #16 -encourage your kids to talk to you about everything and anything. Also a good point is to tell your kids that you love them lots everyday.
These 2 things alone are great in building a sense of belonging, self esteem and appreciation in my opinion too!
I am very sorry for your loss of Cindy. My daughter was on the trip to India also. Thanks for sharing.
